Early conversations set the stage for good relationships. Talk or sign early and often with your child, even when they can’t talk back.Listen, respond and follow their lead, encouraging them to guide where the conversation goes. This is called “Serve & Return” – a series of back-and-forth interactions that are important to building language and socialization skills. When your child is just a baby, these “conversations” can include mimicking each other’s facial expressions and noises.
